12,000 prisoners in Muntinlupa jail gave up their meals so that the food can be donated to flood victims.

We all know we can do more.

Rainy Days at Home

 

The weather has been wild and crazy. We choose to have a quiet night and not go out for food.

 

 

And guess what? Food chooses to come to us!

While the boys bond over the poor, delicious pig...

 

 

I bond with my favorite rainy day drink

 

 

Hot Dark Chocolate.
The instruction says "Just add hot milk or water"

 

 

But you know me, I tend to go a little overboard at times

 

 

I mix the dark chocolate powder with hot Magnolia Chocolait
and stir in a tablespoonful of Nutella

 

 

Then I excitedly dunk in the rest of my stash

And who would have thought that in a seedy area in Makati a warm and cozy place like this actually exists.

 

Bistro Mondo Dining Room

 

 

Unfortunately, the dining room was booked for a party that night so we had to eat at the rooftop bar.

Fortunately, the food more than made up for the lack of ambiance… and the lack of air-conditioning.

 

All the dishes were hearty and the flavors unpretentious. I see myself coming back to try more.

 

 

Mushroom Trio
Shiitake, button and oyster mushrooms sautéed in garlic and brandy finished with demi glazed
and a touch of cream

 

 

Beef Carpaccio
Thinly sliced beef tenderloin finished with olive oil, lemon, basil and parmesan cheese 

 

 

Sesame Dory
Pan seared John Dory fillet coated in sesame seeds served with white wine ginger mushroom sauce
with spinach mashed potatoes and veggies 

 

 

Spedini Gambari Marselesse
Grilled shrimps in a light cheese and bread crumb coating served with gently spiced olive oil, 
 garlic, tomato and gorgonzola sauce on agli e olio pasta

 

 

Beef Tenderloin Provencal
Pan roasted beef tenderloin medallions topped with shallots and garlic simmered in butter 
and served with potato gratin and grilled vegetables

The cake looked so soft and pretty I had to muster every ounce of self-control not to carry it in my arms, sing a lullaby to it and shower it with gentle kisses. 

And it tasted so delicate, light and fluffy I had to muster every ounce of self-discipline to stop at my second slice.

Until I got home, at least.

I had a third, and it was huge.

 

 

I want to bury my face in this pillowy red bean cream cake forever

Changing Hues

 

My sister was blonde

 

 

Then she dyed her hair blue

 

 

Mom freaked out BIG TIME, but she's gotten quite used to it now.

Over the weekend, the crazy girl decided to change into a happier color.

Because, well, blue makes you blue.

The new, gleeful color is... 

 

SHOCKING PINK!!!!!!

 

 

 STEPS TO FOLLOW:

1. Go to cousin's house so Mom will not catch you and stop you halfway

 

 

2. Ask cousin to apply color from roots to ends, working it through with gloved hands or a comb

 

 

3. Ask cousin to cling wrap your hair and use the time to catch up and chitchat

 

 

 4. Ask cousin to rinse and towel dry your hair

 

 

Ta-Da!!!
