Hole in the Wall at Century City Mall

DSC1536

Hole in the Wall at Century City Mall is NOT YET OPEN, but I am so excited about it I can't wait to share these photos with you.

Charlie refers to his new venture with business partner Dwight as a "food court," but I refuse to call it that.

The incredibly handsome space houses 11 all-original concepts from healthy stuff like salads and cold-pressed juices, to comfort food like burgers, pho, and shawarma, to the totally wicked stuff like salted egg fried chicken wings! There is something for everyone.

The place can accommodate 400 people who will surely be oohing and aahing like me the moment they walk into the hole in the wall. Every corner, every nook and cranny is so picture perfect. I spent a good 40 minutes walking around the place before I finally settled into a leather couch. I wanted to sit on every chair, every stool, every bench. Lol.

Here's a sneak peek so you know what I'm gushing about.

Now, the most exciting part.

THE FOOD.

DSC1549

Phobobo will be cooking up incredible beefy beef noodle soup that is "pho-king de-li-cious" :P

DSC1551

Posporo will be serving a wide selection of slowcooked Filipino food, like a sosy turo-turo.
Hi Kat and Earl! :)

DSC1553

Jeremy Slagle, aka Mister Delicious, will be making his famous pastrami and corned beef
among other delicious things. I love a good reuben and I can't wait for this to open!

DSC1554

There will also be an area serving craft beers

DSC1556

Spruce for healthy salads and cold-pressed juices

DSC1558

Charlie, the bad bird of the Bad Bird will be frying up some Japanese-style umami chicken

Burger patties in the making

DSC1682

The Beef is a back-to-basics burger place that serves its burgers with no frills - just good
quality beef patty, lettuce, tomato, and cheese (if you want it). I am loyal to Pink Egg Episode's
Mayura Wagyu Burger - I think it's the best, but I have to say this comes very, very close!

Tiny Duchess offers sweet and savory eclairs

DSC1871

The sweet ones. My favorites are the double chocolate and lemon meringue.
For savories, the salmon wasabi and croque monsieur.

The very talented pastry chef will be spoiling us with special cookie and milk flavors

DSC1660Check out this one he calls "Cookie Inception." It's a cookie within a cookie within a cookie!

DSC1686

Charlee had the chocolate mint cookie and look how happy she is! :)

Green Cheese by my pretty friend CJ

DSC1633

Green Cheese specializes in Japanese cheesecakes and they bake them fresh
in-store everyday

DSC7135

So light and fluffy, it is, indeed, the happiest cheesecake in the world!
See my separate post on Green Cheese here.

Green Hair loves Green Cheese :)

Charlie told me the whole place took one year to complete because they had to redo so many things until everything is perfect.

If you are not yet as impressed as I, wait till you see the outdoor dining area.

Super exciting times ahead! Congratulations, Charlie and Dwight and the whole
Hole in the Wall team!

Hole in the Wall will be on SOFT OPENING starting Friday, October 24. Please take note that not all 11 concepts will be open yet. They do it slowly, but surely. :)

Town & Country Fabulous Food Affair 2014

One of the few things I look forward to in September, aside from flying to Hong Kong for the annual Shaw Prize Award Presentation AND the start of my favorite hairy crab season, is Town & Country's Fabulous Food Affair.

Every year, Town & Country brings together the country's best chefs and all the food-loving people of Manila to experience a night of gastronomic pleasures.

Click here to see last year's affair.

Guests were greeted by these absolutely adorable carts at the cocktail area

DSC8835

I was more interested in the contents of the carts. This one displayed an array of Asian
street foods like duck rice, crispy prawn satay, squid stuffed with beef rendang. Yums.

DSC8830

The flavors and colors were so vibrant

DSC8825

The cheese cart was probably the biggest hit of the night

DSC8827

Everyone I saw was like, "Did you see the cheese cart already?" "You must try the cheeses!"
"The cheese cart is amazing!" I FULLY AGREE.

DSC8864

The biggest hit for me though was this incredible creation by Chef Miko Aspiras called
The Chocolate Galaxy.

DSC8841

I took so many photos of it from different angles!

DSC8853

Of course, I grabbed a piece or two every time I paused to
take pictures

DSC8839

I wanted so much to get that blue and brown "planet" but didn't know
how to eat it without getting chocolate all over my face. Lol. :D

The Coyiuto sisters and Ngan sisters were also fans
