Your Local ♥ ♥ ♥

DSC6977

It is hard to find a place like this nowadays. New restaurants are all trying to be something and everything, most of them try too hard and lose themselves in the process. Some focus too much on the concept and forget about the food, some focus too much on the food and forget about service. So many horror stories.

Your Local is none of the above.

Its space is effortlessly cool.

The staff is well-trained.

DSC6983

We were 3 ladies and we ordered chili crab buns, chicken rice, lamb rendang, salmon donburi,
ratatouille pasta, banana bread, and dark chocolate earl grey cheesecake ice cream.
Our waiter said it was too much food already and pried the menu away from me. LOL.

Most importantly, the food is good.

Not everything is equally delicious though.

The crab buns and ratatouille pasta were just okay.

DSC6990

Chili Crab Buns - chili crab, cucumber spears, leeks, cilantro, fried mantou

DSC7009

Ratatouille Pasta - shiitake mushroom, laksa leaves, basil, japanese zucchini, eggplant, tomato,
parmesan, served ali olio on fettuccine

The chicken and lamb very good.

DSC7002

Chicken Rice - steeped chicken, ginger rice, sweet soy sauce, chili sauce

DSC7016

Lamb Rendang - lamb rendang, sous vide organic egg, sweet soy, mint, cilantro,
red raisin black rice

DSC7031

I thought the pasta lacked flavor so I mixed in some lamb rendang into it. So good!
I'm a genius!!!  :D

But this salmon dish was the greatest revelation.

DSC7007

Torched Salmon Donburi - norwegian salmon, mentaiko, ebiko, and crisp salmon skin
on roast corn and shiitake black rice

DSC7026

OH MY SALMON AND ROE GOODNESS!!!
All the elements in this bowl came together so magnificently I wanted to jump up and down and cry!

DSC6999

I was tempted to finish the bowl while these two were not looking.
This is their favorite activity while waiting for me to finish my photo shoot.

DSC7037

Dark chocolate earl grey cheesecake ice cream with milk crumbs, sesame paste.
Loved the flavors, but it was really too rich and thick for my liking.

DSC7038

Dense banana bread with gula melaka, sesame paste, coconut-calamansi ice cream.
No kidding about the bread being dense. Make sure to eat everything together.

Pink Panda ♥ ♥

DSC07044

Inside Pink Panda...

DSC07046

… is a pair of pink flamingos! Har har har. :P

Pink Panda is the newest baby of Erwan Heussaff. It serves a modern interpretation of South East Asian cuisine.

Expect a lot of sweet, tangy, crunchy, sweet and crunchy.

 Pink panda

We were a big group with big appetites so we ordered multiple servings of the dishes and
drinks below

Pink Panty

DSC07062

Kopi Panda - love!

DSC07066

Wild Vietnamese Spring Rolls - these rice paper rolls filled with mushrooms, pork, shrimps
and pickled jicama were quite tasty. I liked the non-fried version more.

DSC07070

Mango and Papaya Catfish Salad - it was so beautifully presented nobody dared touch it. Lol.
We were all trying to figure out how to mix and toss.

DSC07091

Finally, we asked the server for an extra plate. This is what was left for me after I finished
taking photos of all the other dishes. It was a little party in my mouth.

DSC07076

Crispy Squid - covered in dark caramel and sprinkled with sesame seeds, these sweet and
crunchy deep fried baby squids were a hit

DSC07096

Pork Pockets - could be quite exciting with the contrasting textures - crunchy pork on
soft buns - but the pork belly was covered in the same sweet sauce as the squid.
Therefore, it tasted like the squid!

DSC07088

General P's Chicken - another sweet and crunchy dish that tasted like the squid
AND the pork belly. Lol!

DSC07081

Rack of Bones - pork spareribs in tamarind barbecue sauce

DSC07099

Salted Egg Prawns - my favorite of the night. Make sure you eat the prawns whole so you
get to enjoy the delicious cholesterol coating. It's worth the heart attack. Don't forget to
spit out the shell.

Couldn't resist doing this. Jin loves to exercise, too!
HAR HAR HAR.

Pink Panda is still on soft opening and serves only fruits for dessert. ACK!!!!!!!!!!!

I suggest you go after February 8 when full menu is out. :)

A week after a very simple dinner at Atelier 317, we celebrate Mom's birthday again, this time with everyone.

I picked Kashmir because it is my favorite Indian restaurant in the city.

Of course, I asked everyone to come in Indian fashion. :)
