Greeka Kouzina ♥ ♥

We live in the south and don't usually like to travel beyond Makati for food, but it was Kim's birthday and Kim is special. 

Kim is also my brother's fiancée and has been his girlfriend for lemme see... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9… 10 YEARS!!!

Or is it 11? Lol! :)

Love the colored lamps but not the supercramped supernoisy dining room. Ugh.

Fig Roka Salata - sweet figs, walnuts, sundried tomatoes on a bed of arugula and mixed greens.
Move over, Cyma (who is, by the way, always out of arugula), meet my new favorite Roka Salata

Spanakopita - light and 98% fat free phyllo pastry baked with spinach, feta and greek herbs.
 This was lacking in flavor and feta.

 Keftedes - lamb meatballs. Dry and tasteless.

Paidakia - grilled lamb cutlets marinated in Greeka's signature spices.
Now this one I enjoyed down to the bones. Tasty and gamey. Eat with your hands.

Arni Lemonato - Greeka's bestseller. 5 hour roast lamb that falls off the bone.

Indeed, I needed only to do a little tug with my fork and all the meat just fell off the bone! Beauty!

Watercress Pasta - okay lah but needs some punch

Baklava - layered phyllo with pistachios, walnuts and cashews, topped with guiltless Greek yogurt.
This is the bomb!!! I said I didn't want to order any dessert (yes, I said that! *gasps!!!*), but
I finished every bit of this. Anyway, the menu said "guiltless" so there was no need to feel guilty.

And the only reason why I didn't want to order dessert is because we brought cakes.
Cravings Devil's Food Cake and Mrs. Yulo's Cheesecake that I proudly designed myself! Hahaha!

I would have given 3 hearts to the roka salata, lamb dishes and baklava, but the dining experience at Greeka was just too stressful! The place was jam-packed and people were waiting EVERYWHERE!

Every nook, every cranny, EVERYWHERE!!!

Cyma ♥ ♥

We don’t see each other as often as we want, or rather as often as I want. But when we do, it’s like we are back in high school again, our chairs facing each other as we share our baons and stories (read: gossips) over the 40-minute lunch break. Except now we are not anymore in our khaki Jubilee uniforms with maroon neckties, and some of us are already mothers while some, like me, are old maids in the making.

IMG_5642Cyma Original Saganaki – mozzarella, parmesan and extra virgin olive oil. Just okay.

 

IMG_5646Roka Salata – this is the reason why we are here, because Sheryl’s heart aches for this salad. Fresh arugula (which they don’t have today of all days! Boo!!!), chopped Romaine lettuce, sun dried tomatoes, candied walnuts, shaved parmesan in traditional Greek vinaigrette.
Not the same without the arugula.

 

IMG_5650Paidakia - chargrilled lamb ribs served with Greek roasted potatoes. Pretty good.

 

IMG_5653Baby Clams Angel Hair – Pacific baby clams, white wine, lemon, parley, grated parmesan cheese and garlic butter. Flavor is alright, but pasta is overcooked.

 

IMG_5656Moussaka – layered seasoned ground pork and beef, toasted Japanese eggplant and Greek bechamel sauce. Greece’s national dish. Blah.

 

Come to Cyma for the Roka Salata.

Just make sure they have arugula.
