Makchang Korean Restaurant, Revisited ♥ ♥ ♥

I am so happy my girls finally agreed to venture out our usual Fort/Makati dinner venues and try out my favorite Korean restaurant in Manila.

The place has gone through expansion and renovation. When I first started coming here it was
a lot smaller and dimmer. The service is still hurried, but the food, as good as ever.

Bibim Naengmyun - spicy cold noodles

Add vinegar and mix, mix, mix! Remember, the more vinegar the tastier!

The cold noodles come with this cold soup that is sweet and refreshing

Makchang uses charcoal grill which gives meats the smoky flavor that I love in barbecues

You must order the Galbisal. They now use better quality beef short ribs and marinate them in
this addicting sauce that is a perfect blend of sweet and salty. If you have to order only one
meat dish in Makchang, you must go for this! If you have to order two dishes, order two of this!

Beef Galbi - no marinade version

Samkyupsal - pork belly

Here in Makchang they don't give you Korean appetizers and the little whatnots. They give you 5 things only (complimentary AND refillable, of course!)

I promise you, aside from these 5 things, you don't need anything else.

1. Kamote - you can eat this raw or grilled

2. Miso Soup

3. Kimchi

4. Scallions and bean sprouts tossed in sesame oil and chili powder. MY FAVORITE!!!!!!!
I eat this like spaghetti and always ask for my own plate to avoid World War 4 at my table.

5. Leaves to bundle up all that goodness, and chili to add some heat and excitement

Grilling time!

Doesn't this make you wish they'd start making those scratch-and-smell computer screens???

I like to eat my meat with kimchi and mounds of that chili scallion-bean sprout mix.
I alternate between lettuce and this minty shiso leaf to wrap all that Korean yumminess.

My idea of a super fun girls night out
Don't know if the girls had fun, but I, Jinlovestoeat, had the time of my life! :D

Now ready for some Hizon's grilled ensaymada!

Okay, so I was lying.

I said all you need are the 5 things I mentioned above.

But after some thought, I've decided that for the ultimate authentic Korean BBQ experience, it would be nice to have a sixth.

Like a Korean guy grilling your meats for you.
