71 Gramercy ♥ ♥ ♥

Photos of 71 Gramercy flood my instagram feed.

(By the way, if you haven't, follow me NOW. It's @jinlovestoeat. Thank you! Mwah!)

All the beautiful and skinny people of Manila go to the bar to drink. The plump and cuddly me goes to the restaurant to eat. :)

The communal bread plate was served at the center of the table. I made a shameful mess
breaking the breads before spreading an even more shameful amount of truffle butter on them.

Let me just say we were very happy with our dinner. But that is really no surprise because Chef Carlo Miguel is at the helm. It is no secret that I adore his cooking. See my posts on his other restaurants Draft here and here, and Opus here and here.

The Caesar Salad was so good! The romaine was very fresh and crisp, and the dressing
made me wish I didn't split the salad with Uncle Richard. Lol! It was tangy and only slightly
creamy with just the right amount of prosciutto, parmesan, and croutons. It was exactly
the way I want my caesar salad to be.

The Chilean Sea Bass was like what the menu promised - rich, melt-in-your-mouth tender,
buttery with thick, large flakes. It was also lightly glazed with a delicate miso-ponzu sauce
that complemented the creaminess of the fish.

The steaks at 71 Gramercy are grain-fed and aged then broiled to seal in the juices. They are
seasoned simply with sea salt and cracked pepper, and finished off with butter and fresh parsley.
As you can see, it was also a perfect medium rare.

Of course, I had the steak. AND half of Uncle Richard's sea bass. He insisted!!! Hehehe. :)

And guess who walked in after we finished our mains? Chef Carlo Miguel himself with his wife Ria, sister Crissy, and their mom Tita Sylvia! I met Tita Sylvia and Crissy when we had dinner at their breathtaking Tagaytay farm late last year. See my post on Kalamunda Farm here.

Chef Carlo sent over some desserts to our table.

What he didn't know was that Uncle Richard doesn't eat sweets. So guess who ate all the goodies? Mwahahahaha!!! :)

My favorite was the chocolate. But my most favorite was this hazelnut ice cream which had
a generous amount of real hazelnuts in it. LOVE!

But of course, I would be the most happiestest if I could have the chocolate and hazelnut together, which I did. Lol!

Congratulations on another successful venture, Chef Carlo!
And thank you for the sugar high! :)
