Coca Restaurant ♥ ♥ ♥

I was very excited when Wil suggested Coca for dinner

I was already thinking pomelo salad, crispy catfish salad, duck curry, pad thai, and sticky mango rice

Apparently, the only thing they had from my wishlist was Thai Iced Tea. Lol! :P

Turns out Coca is a Thai-Chinese restaurant. It wasn't what I expected, but it was a pleasant surprise.

Wil and Shirley ordered their favorites.

Roast Duck Salad

Seafood Durian Spring Roll - too rich and heavy even for me

DSC06197

Prawns in Salted Egg Yolk - don't get too excited, the prawns were huge, yes,
but the yellow thing was really just bits of egg :P

My favorites were the two simplest dishes.

Steamed US Prime Strip Loin in Soy Sauce and Ginger -
so tender each piece just melted in my mouth!

Stir Fried Egg Noodles with Soy Sauce and Vegetables - very tasty with a level of heat
so spot-on it kept me wanting more. I can imagine having this sandwiched between
hot pandesal for that perfect midnight snack.

Of course, no visit to Coca is complete without shabu-shabu.

We had the Red Fire Platter with assorted meats, vegetables and glass noodles

And an extra plate of meat

If you can't cook, don't worry! The friendly waiters at Coca will take good care of you.

Plain broth for Wil and Shirley, tom yum goong for me!

Everything tasted more delicious with Coca's famous suki sauce, fresh garlic, chili and lime

The fun part was this. After we finished our meats, the waiter took out all the remaining
vegetables and whatnots from the broth.

Then added these ingredients one by one into the pot

Instead of having fried rice to fill up the last empty crevices of our stomachs...

Here at Coca, we filled it up with congee! Imagine the flavors of the meats, the vegetables,
the eggs, the shallots, the sesame oil… all combined to make this lovely porridge.
They call this the "Khao Tom." It was as delicious as its name sounded.

Coca's signature dessert is the Galorgee, deep fried glutinous rice topped with peanuts,
sesame seeds and sugar. Very okay to skip! :P

Happy to finally have dinner with Achi Shirley! :)
