Shin Yeh 欣葉台菜 ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Shin Yeh is my favorite Taiwanese restaurant in the whole wide world. I tell you, if you haven’t been to Shin Yeh, you haven’t been to Taiwan.

IMG_9915The place is packed on Friday nights
(and also Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays… you get the point)
That’s my cousin Frances all excited and hungry

Whenever I eat here by myself, I always order these 6 dishes (and I demand you do the same, too):

IMG_99231. 蔭鼓青蚵仔 Sautéed Fresh Oysters with Scallion and Garlic
So fresh, so plump and so tasty! I scoop big heaps of this onto my congee.

IMG_99202. 蛋黃肉 Steamed Pork topped with Egg Yolk
So rich and flavorful it makes the most health-conscious oblivious to
all that yellow cholesterol.

IMG_96233. 菜脯蛋 Pan Fried Egg with Preserved Turnip
Eggy and fluffy with bits of crunchy turnip. Yum.

IMG_99334. 小魚花生 Fried Small Fish with Peanuts
I sprinkle this generously all over my congee to add exciting flavors and textures for that ultimate experience.

IMG_99325. A菜 A Vegetables
Gotta balance my meals with delicious veggies.

IMG_99246. 地瓜稀飯 Sweet Potato Congee
Move over, steamed rice. Sweet potato congee is the only way to go.
More potatoes, more satisfaction.

Because I am eating with a group of 6 tonight, we are able to order a few more dishes. Yey!

IMG_9917欣葉卤肉 Soya Boiled Lean Pork with Bamboo Shoots

IMG_9925蚵仔煎 Pan Fried Oysters with Scrambled Egg and Greens

IMG_9921滷大腸 Soy Boiled Pig’s Intestines with Preserved Vegetables

IMG_9940Braised Fish

IMG_9930五香雞捲 Fried Chicken Roll

IMG_9942蔥油雞 Chicken with Scallion

IMG_9937煎糕蘿蔔 Pan Fried Radish Cake

Everything is good, and the complimentary desserts are even better.

IMG_9944花生麻吉 Peanut Mochi
Served very warm so you must stop whatever it is you’re doing and pop these
soft and nutty babies into your mouth right away.

IMG_9948紅豆花生西米湯 Red Bean, Peanut, Sago Soup
I can finish another bowl of this and another bowl and another bowl…
Yes, THAT good.
