The food is good, the place cozy, and the service efficient.

Stuck in El Pueblo.

Might as well feed on salad, pizza and pasta.

 

Al Pasto
Mesclun greens, fresh mushrooms, prosciutto and mangoes in a light raspberry vinaigrette 
We are conned! The mushrooms are canned!

 

 

Spinaci e Feta
Spicy spinach, marinated tomatoes, roasted onions and feta cheese 
Ok lah.

 

 

Genovese
Capellini with shrimps, arugula, pesto and pine nuts in a tomato cream sauce. 
The noodles are waaaaay too soggy it feels like eating Italian birthday miswa.

 

 

The food at Pasto is just okay, nothing exciting to write home about.

I wish management would clean up the place a bit. It looks gloomy, worn out and gives me the ickies.

Mr. Kurosawa calls itself Euro-Japanese. I don't know about that.
I just like the restaurant interiors.

 

 

Sashimi is, sadly, not very fresh

 

 

Wild Mushroom Tarantino is just okay

 

 

Ebi and Uni Truffle is not the least truffle-y

Honestly, I couldn't taste the beef anymore with all that sauce!

Dinner with the cousins...

Actually, some already ate.

So it's more like I had dinner and the cousins watched. :P

 

 

Bread and Dips (yup, I dip my bread in butter!)
And I especially like dipping it in the middle one.

 

 

Watermelon Salad with kesong puti, drizzled with balsamic vinegar.
So delightfully refreshing. The balsamic brings out the beautiful flavors of the fruit and cheese.

 

 

101 Caesar Salad - I love their version with poached egg. Makes the salad all crisp and gooey.

 

 

101 Truffle Pasta - the chopped up ingredients make me feel like I'm eating baby food.
Elbow pasta, black truffle, country ham, gruyere cheese, poultry jus.
Now if this is what baby food tastes like, then I don't ever wanna grow up!

 

 

Grilled Hangar Steak a la Lyonnaise - I cannot begin to tell you how this piece of meat
is cooked so perfectly. The outside is nicely browned and the inside is red.
Tender and very tasty, there's no other way I'd rather have my steak.

Nav Modern Thai Cuisine ♥ ♥

 

 

 

There are way too many restaurants mushrooming around the Kapitolyo area it's not funny anymore.

I'm glad we come to Nav to celebrate Uncle Dennis' birthday.

Finally, I can say, "Oh Kapitolyo? Been there, done that!"

Har har har! :P

 

 

I get excited at the sight of these spices-herbs-and-fruit-infused sauces

 

 

The Thai Iced Tea and Fresh Pear Shake are a bit watered down but still welcome
refreshments in this crazy heat

 

 

Son-in-Law Eggs - deep fried eggs in tamarind syrup. Honestly, no biggie.

 

 

Nav's Pomelo Salad - now this one I like. Coconut-y with a hint of chili. Yum.

 

 

Crab Cakes - over-fried :(

 

 

Crispy Catfish Salad with Green Mangoes - the tang, the sweetness, the crunch,
like an exciting thai party in my mouth

 

 

Green Curry Chicken - surprisingly tender

 

 

Crispy Fish and Yellow Curry - deep fried sole and very mild curry. Nothing fantastic.

 

 

Grilled Stuffed Squid with White Shrimps - soft and tender (and beautiful presentation, too!) 
but can use more flavor and a lot more zing

 

 

Boneless Chicken Pandan - tender, crispy, tasty stuff

 

 

Nav's Bagoong Rice - my kind of rice, very bold and bagoong-y!

 

 

Nav's Pad Thai - I will never say no to thai rice noodles

 

 

Because it's Uncle Dennis' birthday, we get a bowl of this nuclear green Pandan Crepe on the house
