No, it is not the popular Shilin Night Market, although I do make sure to join the crowds each time I visit my birthplace. After all, it is true what all the travel guides tell you – if you haven’t been to Shilin, you haven’t been to Taipei.

But my favorite place for street food is the smaller and less congested (thank goodness!) Ningxia Night Market, where 95% of the people you will be rubbing stomachs with and sharing tables with is local Taiwanese. Your Taipei gastronomic adventure can’t get more authentic than that!
