Koh Samui Thai Cuisine Ӫ

IMG 2859

And what surprise to see a Thai restaurant in this part of town!

IMG 2825

Complete with ladies in costume and gold accessories, too

IMG 2827

The place was huge. At first glance the decor seemed impressive.

IMG 2850

But upon closer inspection you'd find a lot of things were tacky

IMG 2832

Complimentary appetizers of spicy black fungus (loved this) and shrimp crackers

IMG 2837

Cute teapot!

IMG 2833

Thai Iced Tea - not bad at all

And then everything started to go downhill from here.

I think Koh Samui is a very confused restaurant. It cannot decide if it wants to be Thai or Chinese.

IMG 2842

Pork Satay - tender but flavorless

IMG 2841

Red Curry Chicken - wouldn't call it curry at all. It was a very diluted tomato sauce.

IMG 2844

String Beans in Shrimp Paste

IMG 2846

Pad Thai - Chinese noodles

The only consolation was this nice takeaway bag for all our leftovers

It is true what they say about IHOP.

And I had to climb 2 flights of stairs with my bad foot just to affirm the sad fact

I couldn't help notice that the place smelled dirty, too, like old frying oil. Ew.

Devin offered to carry me up but one bad foot is better than 2 people crippled forever.

So I just let him pour me coffee.

It was typical diner-quality coffee, but it was what I consumed the most during dinner

Frances had French Vanilla Coffee. It was huge.

Sirloin Tips and Eggs - the beef was sweet!

Fried Chicken Dinner - skin was perfectly crunchy but the meat inside was dry and devoid of taste.
And that thing on the side is NOT a biscuit.

Specialty Fiesta Chicken Wrap - according to Janice (the mastermind behind tonight's dinner venue)
this was lousy. I believed her.

Eggs, Hash Browns and Bacon Strips

The pancakes were just okay. You can get better ones at other pancake houses. Or even from a box.

Original Buttermilk Pancakes

Strawberry Banana Pancakes

Chocolate Chip Pancakes

 Syrups and syrups

We were hot and smelly and very puzzled about all the hype

And I'm Back!!! :)

OMG! Manila is one big oven!!!

But I missed this place.

Went to my favorite mall and ate my favorite food.

Iron Man is showing and people line up to take photos with him

As for me, I have different taste in men.

I like them round and soft and very sweet to me.

Just like this guy I met in my favorite place - the grocery.

Love you, Mr. M! :)

It's good to be back.

Flying Off… Again!

So I gained 5 pounds in 5 days in Shanghai.

I am back in Manila just long enough to have one home cooked meal, Savory fried chicken and Aristocrat chicken barbecue.

(There was bird flu in China. I was deprived of chicken.)

Flying off to Taipei and staying twice as long. With all the street food, fried chicken, fried buns, oyster cakes, stinky tofu, I can't help but be VERY AFRAID.

Anyway, this is me consulting my cousin Cherry on what clothes to pack:

As always, when I travel there will be no new blog posts, but follow me on Facebook (click here) and Instagram (@jinlovestoeat) to monitor my 14-Day Drastic Weight Gain Program.

See you in two weeks! :)

Poco Deli ♥ ♥

If you like sausages, Poco Deli is the place to be

I love them in different colors, different sizes, different lengths and different tastes. Really, I couldn't find anything to complain about. I just love the sausages at Poco Deli. ;)

German Sausage Sampler

Wagyu Sausage

Lamb Sausage

See how the juices flow... Drools…...

Just go somewhere else for carbs and other stuff.

Truffle Oil Pasta - more like mushroom cream pasta

Mom's Pot Roast - oh so bland

The pot roast came with bacon rice which was just plain rice topped with bacon bits. No biggie.

The Carrot Cake left so much to be desired

Thank you, Lord, for this dark and moist Blackout Cake

My Sunday Sausage Crew :)

Gyumon, Revisited ♥ ♥ ♥

Meat night with the girls

Some Yukke Sashi to start.
The raw beef paired beautifully with slices of sweet crunchy apple.

Salad - love it but loved it more when it was still free of charge. Haha! :P

Ajitsuke Shio Negi - onion leeks salad

Negi Kosho Tan - ox tongue with onion leeks and black pepper

Jo Karubi - superior short rib

Eringi Karubi - king trumpet mushroom

I like my ox tongue with scallions

And my jo karubi medium rare, also with scallions

Scallions make the world a better place. :)

This pancake does not.

We're complete! Yay! :)
