Donosti Pintxos y Tapas ♥ ♥ ♥

Some days it's all about España.

Spanish lunch, Spanish dinner, catching up with Español friends, talking about Spain's economy, culture, festivals, gypsies, pintxos, tapas, Zara, paellas…

Last last Monday was such a day. Me encanta!!!

Spanish lunch was at the newly opened Donosti. Dinner was at Vask, read about it here.

Javi did the ordering so I knew we were in very good hands.

The staff used an iPad mini to input our choices

I came a bit late but managed to snatch up the last 2 pieces of Gambas al Ajillo. Tasty things!
It took every ounce of my self control not to mop up all that spicy, garlicky oil with my bread.
I later found out I actually ate ⅓ of the dish. An order contains only 6 pieces of shrimp.

So… Yay to complimentary pintxos!!! Lol! :D

Tuna Carpaccio. Fresh, simple, and clean flavors.

DSC09014

Croquetas de Jamon Iberico - spanish croquetas with Iberian acorn fed aged ham

DSC09015

Butifarra - boiled and grilled white sausage

DSC09042

Boquerones en Vinagre - these pickled anchovies packed so much flavor!
Extremely mouthwatering but so scanty we had to order a second plate.

DSC09050

Pulpo a la Gallega - boiled octopus with evoo and pimenton.
Loved the smoky flavor on the tender meat.

Huevos Estrellados con Chorizo Picadillo

You gotta mix it all up. Egg, chorizo crumble, and french fries.
It was a bit too salty for me.

DSC09031

Egg and fries again but this time with gulas

DSC09034

The fake angulas tasted like nothing and didn't have any texture :(

DSC09037

Chuletitas de Lechal - these charcoal grilled lamb chops were very tender.
And no wonder because Donosti uses only baby lamb.

DSC09038

Lubina a la Bilbaina - Bilbao style Chilean sea bass

DSC09049

Tortilla con Chorizo - tasted okay, but at this point I could not eat any more potato!

DSC09066

Pastel de Zanahoria con Helado de Coco - in English, carrot cake with coconut ice cream.
The carrot cake didn't do anything for me, but I wanted to lick clean every drop of that buko
ice cream.

DSC09069

Tarta de Santiago - this deliciously moist and fragrant almond cake made me fall in love
at first bite

We capped off our lunch with glasses of Donostia, a sweet and refreshing
drink of cointreau, vodka, lime and syrup

Gracias por el almuerzo, Javier and Marie! :)
