Mad for Garlic ♥ ♥

There's a new place in the Fort called Mad for Garlic. The restaurant originated from Korea and is now in the Philippines serving garlic-based Italian fare.

I know, right???

It was very quiet for a Saturday night considering there were queues at PF Chang's and IHOP in the same building.

The dining room was surrounded with bottles and bottles and bottles of wines

Feeling lazy to read through the whole menu, we went with our server's recommendations for appetizer, salad, pasta and risotto.

Skipped the pizza because that would be major carb-loading (not that I've never done it before and many times over, but eating one dish less than what I normally would was my sacrifice for the lenten season. Lol!)

I saw steaks, too, but the parentals do not eat beef.

Bonus points right away for grating the grana padano tableside

Dracula Killer - soft garlic bread served with garlic cooked in olive oil and anchovies

You can mash the garlic into a creamy paste, but I prefer to eat my cloves whole.
Didn't taste no anchovies at all.

Tutto Mushroom Salad - the menu described this as "three kinds of mushrooms served in
teriyaki sauce with grilled red pepper, asparagus and arugula."
Thing is, there was only one stalk of asparagus and NO ARUGULA. Tsk.

I topped my second piece of garlic bread with leftover garlic chunks from the arugula-less salad.
(Sorry, couldn't get over it.) This was garlicky good.

Grilled Chicken and Mushroom Risotto - generous servings of chicken and mushrooms
although I thought the chicken could be seasoned better

Shrimp and Garlic Sprout Pasta - the noodles were al dente and the touch of heat
added excitement to the dish

There were only two dessert choices so I chose both.

DSC02722

Garlic Sprinkle Gelato - garlic ice cream with garlic cookie served in a chocolate-covered
glass and sprinkled with crispy garlic bits. This was actually quite good, but definitely
not something I would order again

The waitress forgot to give us spoons

Cheesecake - it was the no-bake gelatin kind. Ack.

Will be back to try Snowing Pizza and the steaks.

I don't care how much you love garlic, no matter what, do NOT come here on a romantic date!
