Cav Wine Shop and Cafe ♥ ♥

Had one of my most enjoyable dinner dates in 2012 at Cav.

We met at the restaurant.

We shared the food.

We talked about everything - life, work, relationships, memories...

We smiled a lot.

We had wine.

The spouse was at home, oblivious to all.

Amuse Bouche

We each ordered the 4-course prix fixe menu. The servings were huge!

Grilled Octopus Salad - fennel, grapefruit, organic greens, lemon vinaigrette. This was just okay.

Foie Gras Terrine - onion marmalade, toasted pepper brioche.
The liver taste was very, very subtle. Almost none.

Seared Scallops - corn, shallot crisp, sprouts, foie gras emulsion.
Sweet and creamy, our favorite of the night!

Seared Foie Gras - grilled peaches, mostarda, hazelnut, maldon salt

Tiger Prawns - eggplant ragout, carrot spaghetti, red spice emulsion.
The prawns were huge! The crunchy carrots and mildly spicy sauce added excitement to the dish.

48-Hour Beef Short Ribs - creamy coco beans, kamote curls, Burguncy sauce. Too much fat!

The waiter suggested this bottle to pair with our fatty meat

Chocolate Praline - meringue chantilly, caramel, raspberry sherbet.
This was all cute and spiky but tasted meh….

Nougat Semifredo - soft meringue, toasted nuts, chocolate fondue. I liked this better.

Complimentary sweets to end the meal

The food wasn't perfect.

But the company was.
