La Maison du Chocolat ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥


I will never forget my first experience of La Maison du Chocolat truffles. It was September 2oo7 and I was in the Rockefeller Center outlet in New York. I remember being grossly intimidated by the prices of everything in the store. The saleslady noticed my hesitation and offered me a truffle.

And that was the start of my lifelong bankruptcy.

The cocoa powder slowly dissolved in my mouth, giving way to the smoothest mousse ganache I’ve ever laid my tongue on. It was such a revelation. I have been hooked ever since. And will be for the rest of my life.

So I ended up buying a few boxes which I hand-carried all the way back to Hong Kong. The pretty brown boxes stayed on my lap the whole duration of the flight. They were, after all, my most prized acquisition.

Finally, after a whole year of waiting, God decided to answer my prayers. La Maison du Chocolat opened its very first Hong Kong boutique in 2008. Thank you, Jesus!

A raspberry pulp delight cleverly hidden between layers of intense chocolate mousse
on a soft and tender biscuit. As you can see, one is never enough for me.


And then there’s the HK$50 chocolate éclair which I always forget to take pictures of. Chocolate custard cream covered in the lightest choux pastry and painted with a layer of chocolate ganache, my favorite treat when on the go.


la maison du chocolatBut the biggest surprise for me is this. The Maracuja Island.
Imagine banana, coconut, lime and passion fruit cream covered in rich, dark chocolate.
Sounds complicated, but I promise you, it works. One of the wildest chocolate cakes
I’ve had in my life.


If suddenly I die tomorrow, I’d die VERY bankrupt, but VERY happy.
