Kieak Sharks Fin ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

They say all the people you meet, you meet for a reason. So whenever I meet someone new I always ask myself one question.

WHY?

And now I know.

The reason why I met Walter is this.

Two days before my flight to Bangkok, with my eating itinerary all planned out and all necessary restaurant reservations made, Walter tells me I MUST try this REALLY GOOD sharks fin place in the city.

Argh. I hate changes when everything is set. And I just don't have the heart to take one restaurant off my precious list.

But…

As soon as this gurgling pot arrives on our table, the steam whispers to my nose how great
this is gonna taste. And I forget completely all my hesitations.

But nothing in the world could have prepared me for the electrifying jolt of pleasure when the first spoonful touches my lips. You know, in all my 31 years I have been very tame with the use of rough, unladylike language, but...

IMG_8056FUUUUCCCCKKKK!!!!! This is soooooo gooooood!!! Right away my mouth is flooded with rich, complex flavors, the kind you get only from days and days of boiling and simmering.
I tell you, even without the fins, I would shell out thousands of baht just to have this soup. This is like nothing I have ever tasted before.

Still can’t get over how earth-moving delicious the sharks fin soup is, I refuse to leave Kieak without trying another item on the menu.

And because I luuuurrrrve goose feet...

I know the abalone should be the star of the show, but honestly, it is just alright. Also, the soup is tainted with the strong taste of celery which I am not so sure I like. But the goose web, man, it is the bomb! Fatty, meaty, with thick pads full of the gelatiny stuff I love. Really, this abalone pot is all about the feet.

So this is why I met Walter.

So he can lead me to these gurgling and steaming bowls of sharks fin and goose feet, the two things that make up the very best meal I have in Bangkok.
