For me, it’s always dessert over drinks.
So even with the multitude of bars and lounges in the hip and happening Xintiandi, this is where we end up.
It is here or Starbucks.
And Paul looks really warm and inviting. It is to Xintiandi what your bedroom is to your house. It feels like you can stay here forever.
Plus the cakes and pastries call out to me.
But…
Cafe Mocha – bland. Coffee and chocolate flavors are too weak.
Caramel Latte – bland. Not even a hint of caramel.
Chocolate Banana Tart – bland. Severely lacking in richness and sweetness.
Bland, bland, bland.
No wonder all the people of China are stick-thin, and I, on the other hand, am extremely well-rounded.
Okay fine, just extremely round.
We also try the cheesecake and chocolate cake (sorry, no photos). Both are much better than the chocolate banana tart, but still undeserving of high praises.
Nonetheless, Paul is still one of the best spots in Xintiandi to hang out and people-watch.
