The Fireplace at Hyatt, Revisited - Oyster Festival ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I saw it on the posters in the elevators.

Plump and succulent oysters sitting on a mouthwatering, juicy piece of steak.

Carpetbag Steak.

I could almost taste it.

Almost.

But people in the lift were starting to stare.

Oooops.

I pulled my tongue in and vowed to come back.

About a week later, I am here again.

The Fireplace at Hyatt, my ultimate place for steak.

the fireplace at hyatt manila shrimp cocktailChilled tiger prawn, cocktail sauce – the prawn meat is a bit too firm. Chilled prawns are chilled prawns, they’re not meant to be exciting. The salad, however, is beautiful and crisp.

the fireplace at hyatt manila baked oystersFine de Claire oysters baked with foie gras – large and fresh oysters baked in creamy bechamel sauce, parmesan and gruyere, then topped with a chunky slice of buttery foie gras. Extremely delicious!

the fireplace at hyatt manila oyster soupOyster cappuccino – white wine, shallots, oyster liquid, stock, cream, poached oysters, milk foam. Like drinking hot oyster milkshake. Yummm.

the fireplace at hyatt manila carpetbag steakCarpetbag Steak – freshly shucked Fine de Claire oysters in grilled 6 oz. tenderloin pocket, wilted watercress, grilled baby corn, sweet potato crisp, sweet shallot glaze. Imagine oyster juices on incredibly tender steak. Tell me you don’t want it.

the fireplace at hyatt manilaFelchlin chocolate arriba (72%) brownie, bourbon whiskey ice cream, caramelized pecan nuts – the three items, when eaten individually, are boring and forgettable. Brownie is rock hard, ice cream needs much getting used to, pecan nuts rather ordinary. But put all three in your mouth and you have something special. Nothing sensational, but still worth a try.

Oyster Festival runs this month of August only.

Don’t just drool at the poster.

Hurry.
