The Fireplace at Hyatt ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

They say how you rate your dining experience depends greatly on the company you have. What makes a great dinner is after all not just great food, but also great company.

I must say I've had some amazing meals here at The Fireplace, dining on beautiful food, in the company of beautiful people. Those times are now beautiful memories I hold dear in my heart.

But how does one allow something truly beautiful to become just a memory?

One does not, of course.

I come back to The Fireplace to reunite with my old flame, needing desperately to rekindle the passion I’ve tried to suppress but has not died down all these years. I hide my excitement and keep my expectations under control, worried that things may have already changed.

And then…

One look.

My heart freezes, and everything around us stops with it.

One smile.

Blood rushes up my cheeks, and my heart starts pounding heavily against my chest.

And one taste.

Oh, that taste so familiar as soon as it touches my lips all the feelings come rushing back… the overwhelming love, the overflowing joy, and the simple contentment that we are finally reunited.

lobster bisque Lobster Bisque – not in the menu so do ask for it. Drop down to your knees and beg if you have to. It is worth it.

IMG_3908Millionaire’s Salad – generous portions of pan fried foie gras, prawns, seared scallops and organic leaves in raspberry vinaigrette. Generous enough to be a meal on its own, or an appetizer to be shared by two.

ribeye steak Prime Chilled Rib Eye 10 oz – well marbled, full flavored, tender, and grilled a perfect medium rare.

IMG_3920 Potato Gratin – the creamy, cheesy and buttery complimentary potato side I always ask for.

baked alaska Flamed Ice Cream Alaska, Raspberry Coulis – not something I would normally order, but my date tonight is a kid at heart and is mesmerized by ice cream and flames…

baked alaska Pouring the brandy from the half eggshell.  Dramatic is all. No love after the flame dies down. I’ll stick with the Chocolate Soup next time.

I come back to The Fireplace to meet my old flame. Here at the very same place, in the exact same booth where it all first happened. After all, one cannot allow truly beautiful flavors to remain just a memory.

And to my delight, I discover that my old loves – the lobster bisque, the millionaire’s salad and the prime chilled rib eye – they still can, after all these years, make me feel this happy and deeply in love.

It is indeed as they say. Love is sweeter the second time around.
