Crisp on 28th ♥

This Kimberly Ting, she is really a die-hard Erwan Heussaff fan.

Last year we celebrated her birthday at Hatch 22 (see post here), another of Erwan's restaurants, because seeing her crush "would make her birthday."

He didn't show up and she was heartbroken. But that doesn't stop true love.

Last Sunday, she was at it again.

Sorry for the censorship. I do not want to get people in trouble. :P

So there we were, just the four of us. Everyone else went out to play over the long weekend.

Erwan was again nowhere in sight. Poor Kim. Her heart was shattered.

Aside from the regular menu, Crisp on 28th also has weekly specials.
And they serve Papa Palheta coffee from Singapore.

There's an outdoor area that is great for December nights

What was left of my brother's Beef Shortrib Tapa when we got to the restaurant.
I guess it was good, or he was also heartbroken about Erwan's absence. Lol.

I quite enjoyed the "NYOB." It's got mushrooms, sous vide egg, very crisp and tasty bacon,
sauteed spinach, torched citrus hollandaise on top of fresh baked english muffins.
I appreciate the generous serving of fresh salad greens.

The Adobo Flakes made with pork belly and chicken thigh, served with salted egg salsa and
dirty brown rice under that alluring sunny side up egg seemed like the perfect comfort food.
Except it wasn't. The meat tasted like it was marinated in overused oil. Not comforting at all.

Kim liked the Crab Benedict. Crispy crab cake, asian slaw, honey sriracha dressing,
sous vide egg, orange chili hollandaise. I liked the spicy greens.

The Roasted Sambal Chicken Thighs were so tasty outside, but void of flavor and still
a bit raw inside. I loved all the pretty plates, from start to finish.

My favorite dish of the night was the Tinapa and Quinoa Salad. So light and refreshing
but also bursting with flavor. I finished the whole bowl in no time.

Well, except for this one lettuce stump

Desserts are by Carmela of Casa San Luis

I wish the Banana Squash cake was more moist, and the frosting not too saccharine

Following my usual practice, I posted our group photo on instagram after we left the restaurant and parted ways.

Then I got this text from Kim.

And true enough he did!
I believe Kim fainted with happiness shortly after this.
