Yomenya Goemon Japanese Spaghetti House

Spaghetti is my comfort food. Most especially when it is loaded with cheese.

I like to eat my spaghetti with chopsticks, slurping the long strands messily rather than twirling them prettily on a fork and putting the tidy bunch neatly into my mouth.

I love it when the juices splash and splatter and when the corners of my mouth become the color of the sauce.

Makes me feel like a little girl again.

So I was quite excited when this new Japanese Spaghetti House opened in Greenbelt.
Finally, a place where I can openly and peacefully eat my spaghetti with chopsticks and not get a
disapproving look from my mother, Mrs. Manners. (Don't worry, they have spoon and fork, too!)

In my excitement, and my eatmates' as well, we ordered 2 salads, 4 pastas, 2 pizzas and 3 desserts.

We were just 5. The pastas were huge.

Soup - everybody gets a complimentary shot

Let me tell you this. Yomenya Goemon, The Japanese Spaghetti House, KNOWS its spaghetti.

In fact, they know it better than most Italian spaghetti houses in the metro.

The noodles were perfectly al dente - tender but firm without the chalky taste.

Carbonara Chili Tomato Sauce with Bacon - there was right amount of heat in the tomato sauce,
and the raw yolk brought the whole dish up another level of richness. I loved this the best.

Mentaiko Shrimp and Japanese Herb Ao-Shiso - of all eggs, mentaiko is my perennial favorite.
Salty, fishy, with that little bit of "pop." This was Cyrene and Kate's top choice.
Would've been mine, too, if it were spicier. I like things hot.

Shabu Shabu Boiled Pork and Japanese Vegetables with Sesame Sauce - this was sweetish.
Order when with little boys and girls. :)

Crab, Shrimp and Scallops with Crab Paste - yup, aligue. Japanese with a Filipino twist.

The pizzas were done Japanese-style (duh!) with crust so soft and pillowy you can just fall right asleep on it after eating.

I still like mine thin and crisp, but I can imagine Mrs. Manners having a feast with this.
