Do you know Pithecophaga Jefferyi?
I call him PJ or Jfryi. He's a really handsome and powerful dude.
And he flies.
In case you don't know, he's also our Philippine National Bird and he needs our help.
Photo grabbed from the Philippine Eagle Foundation website
Please support the Philippine Eagle Foundation in its PJ conservation efforts by:
Buying PJ stuffed toys
Buying Chinese fans with Chinese paintings (see the whole collection here)
All proceeds go to the Philippine Eagle Foundation.
Of course, the best is to actually adopt a Philippine Eagle and you get to give him or her a really cool name. Or just name him or her after you. Hehehe.
Better yet, adopt a pair and let them breed for cute and chubby baby eaglets! :)

The newest Mochiko baby - Potato Chip Chocolate!
Mochi ice cream eating instructions are printed on the box. I find the illustration really cute,
that is, until I saw #2: Thaw the mochi out for a few minutes before biting into them.
Argh... I hate waiting.
Waiting is torture. I want to bite into this snowball sooooo verrryyyyy baaaaddddddd.
AND FINALLY.
Chocolate-covered potato chips by Risa Chocolates, covered with belgian chocolate ice cream,
covered with soft and chewy mochi. I like it because it's not too sweet, meaning I can consume
a box of 6 and not feel guilty.
Thank you, Nicole! :)

The place looks a bit off from the outside, and I don't know whether the restaurant is called Combos Bread Company or Turkish Restaurant or Mehmet's Kebab House. There are different signs that say different things.
But the menu says Mehmet's Kebab House and menus don't lie so that's what I'm gonna
call it - Mehmet's Kebab House
The kebab house is actually quite nice (and very, very red) inside.
We were the only customers on a Sunday night. This kinda worried Mom.

The undefined object hanging from the ceiling worried her, too. She was scared of it.
"Parang spider web." (Huh??????)
We had Hummus and Spinach Meze to start. Mom tried to keep her voice down to a whisper,
but the server heard her comment, "Bakit amoy kilikili?"
She ended up eating the most, mind you.
The mezes came with freshly baked chewy pita bread topped with 5 stainless teaspoons
Lentil Soup - highly recommended by our server. Turned out it was the only soup available that night.
Turned out it was really good soup! Hearty, aromatic with a hint of heat. I will come back just for this.
Except when I come back I will order not just the soup. Everything we had was very good!
I was surprised and rather impressed.
(Also Mother, the #1 Complainer.)
Shawarma Plate with Rice - very tasty lamb pieces on a bed of rice, served with tomatoes, onions,
yogurt and special sauce. Mix everything together and let the flavors explode in your mouth.
Shrimp Pasta - perfectly cooked ribbon pasta with baby shrimps tossed in yogurt and special sauce.
Tangy, creamy and buttery.
Chicken Kebab in Bread
Dad and Benjie were talking about the Pacquiao fight, and I said I wanted to order baklava.
Mom: Ha? Bakla ba si Manny?
Mommy, anobaaaaahhhhh?????
Anyway, the baklava, like many other things on the menu, was out of stock.
So we ended up with this chocolate pudding thing made with carabao milk and
topped with Turkish ice cream
Homemade yogurt

Turkish coffee
Looking forward to more Sunday dinners here

There's a new ramen place in Molito, Alabang called Ramen Yushoken.
People ask me if it's worth the toll fee on Skyway. Well, let's just say my friend Jeff had dinner here last night and he drove all the way here again tonight just so his beloved wife Chiz could try the noodles.
Jeff lost 125 lbs. on Cohen and allows himself one rich meal a week only.
And Yushoken is that.
Rich.
I arrived a bit earlier and had some gyoza and white ale with one of the owners, Ryan.
Gyoza
Hitachino Nest White Ale, blast chilled for me by Elbert,
Mr.-Steakroom-and-now-also-Mr.-Ramen himself
As soon as Chiz sat down, we over-ordered.
Tantan-men - the noodles cradling the tasty morsels of meat are perfectly al dente,
the soup nutty and creamy with just the right amount of heat to keep things exciting

Tonkotsu Tsukemen - this is traditional tonkotsu ramen, deconstructed.
You take some noodles, dip them into the pork broth, and then slurp. Repeat.
Yushoken makes their noodles in house. They are firm and bouncy, the way I like 'em.
And until now I cannot forget the effect my first spoonful had on me. Intensely porky with meltingly
tender chasiu, this broth's got a lot of soul and holds on to each strand of tsukemen noodle
like there is no tomorrow.
Aji Tamago - the picture says it all
Random stuff: I like that the spoon hooks onto the bowl nicely and keeps the contents of my broth
orderly. I'm OC like that.
Karaage
Chahan
We finished an order of gyoza, tantan-men, tonkotsu tsukemen, 2 aji tamagos, karaage and chahan.
Chiz and I, we are the undefeated champions.
There's no dessert on Yushoken's menu. Luckily, Chiz brought a chocolate chip walnut cookie
that she baked herself. "It's my best cookie yet," she proudly announced. I had this after the gyoza
and before all the noodles. Yum.
Next time I'm gonna try the Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen
Congratulations, Ryan and Elbert! :)
