Abaca Restaurant ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

IMG_7387

During my alone time at the plush Abaca Boutique Resort, this is where I have long and romantic dinner dates with myself.

IMG_7394Enchanting, eh?

IMG_7401 I just can’t say it enough, the breads in Abaca are truly excellent! I fight hard not to finish the whole basket but I fail. My nice and thoughtful waiter notices my empty basket and replaces it almost immediately. Burp!

IMG_7403Seafood Bisque – so good I practically inhaled the thing

IMG_7407 Alaskan Black Cod in Caper Brown Butter, Creamed Spinach with Bacon – just a teeny-weeny bit overcooked, but still moist and tasty

IMG_7410Chocolate Pot de Crème – the menu says this is “not for the faint-hearted or the calorie conscious.” Oh baby, that I am not!

On another occasion…

IMG_0558 Abaca freshly baked breads – so good they deserve their very own photo

IMG_0559 Grilled Prawns with Avocado – prawns are fresh and succulent, and the avocado a great complement

IMG_0562 Tomato Bisque – the first spoonful is delicious, but there is too much pepper that by the time I finish the soup, I taste only pepper and no more of the tomato

IMG_0577 Beetroot, Blue Cheese, Sundried Tomato Salad – VERY, VERY GOOD!!!

IMG_0580Lamb Tabulleh on Crisp Pita – although this dish is fun to eat, it lacks that “ooomph.” Perhaps a mintier yogurt sauce or super garlic sauce and some pine nuts would do the trick

IMG_0583Braised Beef Short Rib – super tender and super beefy. The mushrooms on top complement the beef so perfectly. I am already too full at this point (blame the bread! blame the bread!) but it is just too grave a sin to waste such a beautiful thing.

IMG_0581Bouillabaisse – too full at this point to even taste anything, but I remember the bread being a bit too oily

IMG_0587Baked Apple Puff with Vanilla Ice Cream – but there is always room for dessert, especially if it comes in the form of something hot and cold, light and flaky, soft and crispy.

Hey Jin

Long time reader, first time commenter. Great blog, you do a lot of interesting eating and I really enjoying reading about it.

I'm really glad you reviewed Abaca - I love this place. I've a good mate who lives in Cebu and fly across from HK occasionally. I stumbled across Abaca one night while walking back to my hotel, thinking the mysterious entry let to a nightclub I went in looking for a drink but was instead greeted by a restaurant. I went back the next day for lunch and loved it. I think the foods excellent, setting spectacular and service absolutely first class. Part of the reason I'm planning my next trip to the Cebu is the chance to visit Abaca again.

Happy blogging
Andrew

Hi Andrew! Thanks for visiting my blog and for finally commenting! :) I can't agree with you more, Abaca has excellent food and truly first class service. And once you've entered their suites, you wouldn't ever want to leave. Definitely reason enough to keep flying back to Cebu. :)
